Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about Woods Edge Nature Preschool. Woods Edge opened in 2017 as a way of infusing nature into early childhood learning. Our schools incorporate early childhood learning experiences with nature through the creation of an outdoor classroom and the natural world around us. Woods Edge provides a balanced learning experiences and for young children and their families. Most importantly, we are a Christian Preschool and our first priority is to love God, people and the natural world around us.
Woods Edge’s vision is to develop educational programs that allow young children to be close to God by learning about and engage with nature in a meaningful way, which allow children to develop a true sense of caring for the natural world around them. Our program is built on many different philosophies of learning. We believe children learn best when they have hands on experiences every day, and they are the directors of their own learning. Our outdoor classroom and our indoor space are designed to be a third teacher and allow children to navigate through their learning in an authentic way. Teachers are facilitators and create a learning environment that is inviting. Research shows that young children learn through meaningful play experiences. Woods Edge believes this too.
Woods Edge Nature Preschool’s goal is to build a strong presence in the community in which we become a part of. We do this by partnering with a local organization to bring in nature infused educational programming to children and their families, sponsor events each month for our families and the community and build strong relationships with other businesses in the local area and beyond. We seek out opportunities to bring other professionals into our learning environment and teach them about the strengths of teaching and learning in an outdoor environment.
Safety is our number one program target. Our program requires that state licensing be maintained and that all Woods Edge programs abide by the state childcare licensing regulations. We go above and beyond to maintain a safe environment for every student and staff member each day. Our staff is required to be teacher credentialed in Early Childhood or Elementary education, have state background check documentation on file and have current CPR and First Aide certification. Each year our staff attends a minimum of 20 hours of professional development hours meeting the minimum required by the state licensing. Our partnership will provide so many great opportunities for the community, for your program and for Woods Edge Nature Preschool. We value your partnership and hope that we can have to opportunity to present further to your board.
